For New Zealand first home buyers
See how close you are to your first home.
Property sites are built for people already buying. This is for the step before: a free 10-minute check of your income, deposit and debts that shows your estimated borrowing power and exactly where you stand.
No account needed. No broker calls until you choose. Not financial advice, just a clear picture.
Your answers build the house. Finish the check, finish the house.
How it works
Three steps, one clear answer
Step 1
Answer honestly
Income, living costs, debts, deposit and where you want to buy. About 10 minutes, and everything saves on your device as you go.
Step 2
See where you stand
An estimated borrowing range, your total budget, and the three signals lenders care about: deposit, surplus and debt load.
Step 3
Share when you're ready
If you want to move, send your profile to a first-home loan adviser in one tap. If not, it never leaves your phone.
The bit that matters
Your money details stay on your device.
Most lead forms send everything you type to a server the moment you type it. This check works differently. Your income, expenses and deposit are stored only in your own browser while you work through it. Nothing is sent to us, or to anyone, until you finish and press share. Close the tab and it is still there next time. Clear it and it is gone for good.
When you do choose to share, your profile goes to one adviser for one purpose: helping you get your first home loan.

Where this ends up
Closer than you think.
Most renters assume a first home is years away. Usually the gap is one specific number: a slightly bigger deposit, one less credit card, a few months of surplus. The check shows you which number is yours, and what moves it.
Good questions
Before you ask
Is this the Kāinga Ora First Home Loan?
No. The First Home Loan is a government-backed scheme for buyers with a 5% deposit, issued through participating lenders. We are an independent readiness check that helps you work out where you stand, including whether that scheme might fit you. An adviser can help you apply for it if you qualify.
Is this financial advice?
No. The check gives you estimates based on standard lender rules of thumb, so you can see your position clearly. It never recommends products. When you are ready for actual advice, that is what the adviser is for.
What does it cost?
Nothing, ever. If you choose to share your profile, our partner adviser pays us a referral fee. Advisers are typically paid by the lender when your loan settles, so their help is usually free for you too.
What if the result says I'm not ready yet?
Then you have found out for free, in ten minutes, with nobody judging you. You will see exactly which numbers need to move, and most people are closer than they think.
Ten minutes. Your real position.
Free, private, and honest about where you stand.
