What we do
My First Home Loan (myfirsthomeloan.co.nz) provides a free home loan readiness check for New Zealand first home buyers, and, if you choose, refers your completed profile to a partner mortgage adviser. By using the site you agree to these terms.
Not financial advice
We are not a mortgage broker, lender or licensed financial advice provider. The readiness check produces estimates based on standard lender rules of thumb. It does not recommend any financial product, and nothing on this site is financial advice. Results are indicative only. Any lender or adviser will make their own full assessment, and their conclusions may differ from ours.
We are not the Kāinga Ora First Home Loan
This site is independent and is not affiliated with Kāinga Ora or the government First Home Loan scheme. Where the check mentions government schemes, it does so as general information only.
Your responsibilities
- Provide honest, accurate answers. The result is only as good as the numbers you put in.
- Use the site for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.
- Do not attempt to interfere with, reverse engineer or misuse the site.
The referral service
The check is free and there is no obligation to share your profile. If you do share it, our partner adviser will contact you. We receive a referral fee from the adviser. You are never charged by us, and any arrangement you enter with an adviser or lender is between you and them. We are not responsible for the advice or services they provide.
Intellectual property
The content, design and branding of this site belong to My First Home Loan. You may not copy or reuse them without written permission.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep the site available and accurate but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update the check, the scoring approach or these terms at any time. The latest version of these terms always applies.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site or reliance on its estimates. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to resupplying the service.
Consumer law
Our service is provided in trade for the purposes of the Fair Trading Act 1986, and we take care to ensure claims on this site are accurate and not misleading. If you believe anything on the site is inaccurate, please tell us at hello@myfirsthomeloan.co.nz.
Disputes and governing law
If something goes wrong, contact us first at hello@myfirsthomeloan.co.nz and we will try to put it right within 10 working days. These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the New Zealand courts have exclusive jurisdiction.
